In translational medicine, everything revolves around the patient. Inselspital has extensive tertiary medicine facilities, and its staff is actively involved in clinical research in virtually all clinical disciplines.
In addition to the Department of Clinical Research, the ARTORG Center for Biomedical Engineering Research and the Institute for Surgical Technology and Biomedics, the University of Bern is home to two national centers of competence in research (NCCR) with relevance to translation financed by Swiss National Science Foundation (SNF): “Transcure” and “RNA and Disease.” Research at the University of Bern has a high international profile.
